Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the four businesses below collect, use, share and protect personal information, as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). It applies to customers, website visitors, suppliers and anyone else who gives us personal information, from 1 November 2026.

1. Who we are

The four businesses are separate legal entities with a common owner. They share premises, staff, systems and many customers, and are referred to together in this policy as “we” or “us”. “ACT Group of Companies” is a descriptive name only, not a registered company.

4. Who we share your information with

We do not sell or rent personal information.

Between our businesses. ACT ISP Services, ACT Computers, Spifix Mobile Repairs and Wifiza Telecoms share customer records, staff and systems. Your contact, account and service details may be shared between them so that we can support you as one team, for example when ACT Computers repairs the router on your ACT ISP connection. Each business uses shared information only for the purposes in section 3.

Outside our businesses, only when needed:

  • network and service providers that help deliver your service, such as fibre network operators, data centres and upstream internet providers;
  • banks and payment providers that process debit orders and payments;
  • registered credit bureaus, with your consent, and debt collectors and attorneys for overdue accounts;
  • our accountants, auditors and IT and software providers (for example accounting, e-mail and cloud backup systems);
  • our sales agents, limited to the details of the customers they signed up;
  • SARS, the police, courts and regulators, where the law requires it.

Everyone we share with must keep your information confidential and secure.

5. Storage, security and how long we keep it

Security. We protect personal information with access controls, passwords, staff confidentiality and secure storage of paper forms. If we believe your information has been accessed by someone without authority, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

Storage outside South Africa. Some of our software and cloud providers (for example e-mail and backup services) may store information on servers outside South Africa. We only use providers in countries with adequate data protection laws, or who are bound by agreements that protect your information to the same standard as POPIA.

How long we keep it.

Record Kept for
Customer account, invoices and payment records 5 years after the account closes (tax law)
Communication records required by RICA As long as RICA requires
Credit check results Only as long as needed to decide on your application
Repair records 3 years after the repair
Website contact form messages 1 year, unless you become a customer

After that, records are securely deleted or destroyed.

6. Messages, marketing, cookies and children

Service messages. We contact customers by SMS, WhatsApp, e-mail and phone about their account and services, such as upgrades, planned maintenance, outages, invoices and payment reminders. These are part of the service and are not marketing.

Marketing. We send marketing about our businesses’ products only to existing customers about similar products, or to people who have given consent. Every marketing message tells you how to opt out, and you can opt out at any time by replying STOP or contacting us. We never give your details to other companies for their marketing.

Cookies. Our websites may use cookies to work properly and to count visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Children. POPIA treats anyone under 18 as a child. We only process a child’s information with the consent of a parent or guardian, for example when a parent books a phone repair for their child. Our services are contracted with adults.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  1. ask whether we hold your personal information, and for a copy of it;
  2. ask us to correct or update information that is wrong or out of date;
  3. ask us to delete information we no longer need or are not allowed to keep;
  4. object to us using your information, including for marketing;
